Hutchison Seeks Juneteenth Holiday

Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison introduced a measure Tuesday that would make a national observance out of Juneteenth, the June 19, 1865, reading of an order that officially freed the slaves in Texas, which had resisted the Emancipation Proclamation two years earlier. "By observing this day, our nation will honor the role that Juneteenth has played in African American culture in Texas and throughout the country, and it will remind us that, in America, we are all blessed to live in freedom," Hutchison said.

 

I was born Juneteenth 1934, I have been celebrating that day for 78 years now!  Thank you KAY, for trying to get a "NATIONAL OBSERVANCE" for my birthday, it's nice to know I am important,  every body hope you enjoy it..  Long live watermelon and fried chicken!

Talk and Tea Party

Like them or not we have a Monday thru Friday menu of conservative talk shows on different Radio stations.  We have Rush, Sean Hennaty, Mark Levine, Glenn Beck, Michael Regan Michael Savage and scores of others, talking the happenings in politics.  Those that can listen every day at some time or another.  All of them say the same thing and for the most part they are 100% correct.  Mean while Fox News Network is following the other news networks, but emphasize the conservative side of the news.

In our corner we also have the members of the various groups referenced "The TEA Party",  We are far from a party, but thousands upon thousands of Patriots trying ti get our country back on track.  There in lies a problem, the Republican National Committee does not like having the Tea Party involved in their Ball game.  As in the past the Republicans want to call all the shots and want no ideas from an outside the beltway groups.  As in I think 1994, the people handed the entire ball of wax to the Republicans, President, House, Senate, and they had not had control in so long they let the Democraps, guide them and slowly retake control.  I might add, not as the winners but because the Republicans could not fight as hard a game as the Democraps.

Now comes another critical election, probably the most important one in history.  I have received mail from every corner of the Republican National Committee, every one of them had a questionnaire which asked the same stupid questions and asking for money.  Under the previous National committee chairman, I really saw nothing except waste and corruption with the money we send in.  He is gone now but the same letters come in each week and no overall improvements have been made.  Now again, the supporters of the many Tea "party" movement have rallied many thousands to help the Republicans win.  As we are helping them win, we are helping get our country back.  We now have enough people to pull the wagon, our only hope now is that the selected candidates and their baggage is not too much to weigh the wagon down.  Get out and vote People!

"low tales"

POST TURTLE

I guess you could refer to our PREZ, as a post turtle!  The story goes that an old farmer, walking down a lane one day, spotted a Turtle atop a post.  Knowing turtles cant climb, someone had to put it there. I guess that's why I call him a post turtle, No one knows where he came from, how he got there or who in gods name put him up there.  In over three years he has done as much good sitting on the post, as being the POTUS in Washington.

The Rat

Several years ago a salesman from the mid-west was in Washington for a sales meeting.  He had some free time and decided to do some shopping in the older section of town.  He went into several shops and although interesting he saw nothing that interested him.  About to go back to his hotel, he spied a little dumpy shop near an alleyway.  He went in and even though the door was not locked, no one was visible.  He called out, is anyone here?  soon a voice was heard, look around, I'll be with you in a minute.  He looked around the crowded shop and nothing looked good to him, then he saw a BIG Brass Rat!  He said to himself, I have got to have that.

At that time the storekeeper came in and asked if he could help? The salesman said, yes, I would like to have this RAT, how much is it?  The store keeper told him, it's free but you cannot return it.  The salesman was delighted and thanked him and left.

It was a really nice evening and he decided to walk to his hotel, checked his bearings and started walking.  The streets were not crowded and it was somewhat quiet, he thought heard something, he turned around and a group of huge rats were following him.  He started walking faster the further he walked, the more rats there were.  By this time he was in a state of panic, thousands of rats were following him, he feared for his life.  What am I to do,  he looked around, ahead was the river.  As he rushed to the edge the rats kept coming more and more.  He looked at his brass rat, said goodbye to it and threw it into the river as far as he could.  What? the rats kept following the brass rat.  everyone of them plunged into the river and drowned.  He was relieved, out of breath he went to his hotel.

The next morning he went to the little shop, as he walked in the man at the counter said, I knew you would be back, but you cannot return the rat.  The salesman remarked, I do not want to return it, I was wondering if you have a BRASS POLITICIAN I can buy.

I guess next week I'll get serious!  WB
